Meet me on Pennsylvania Avenue! While in town for a visit to the Mubadala Citi DC Open, National Junior Tennis and Learning student-athletes from three USTA sections had a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity to tour the White House thanks to the USTA Foundation.

Future leaders from USTA Eastern, Mid-Atlantic and Middle States—representing more than a half-dozen NJTLs including D.C.'s own Washington Tennis & Education Foundation, the Junior Tennis Champions Center, and Metropolitan Tennis and Education Group—also met with senior advisor to President Joe Biden Gene Sperling, and White House press secretary Karine Jean-Pierre, to learn about careers in public service.

The visit was facilitated through the USTA Foundation's Haber Regional Career Excellence Program, which help facilitate career readiness opportunities for kids who participate in NJTL programming, and the support of the White House's Office of Public Engagement. The students enjoyed lunch on-site as part of their tour.

The youngsters even visited the White House Briefing Room, and stood at the podium where Jean-Pierre holds court daily though press briefings for local, national, and international media.
