Barrie Bergman

Barrie Bergman had multiple successful careers in his life. He grew a small family business of a handful of record stores called The Record Bar into the 2nd largest national chain with over 180 stores in 30 states when it was sold in 1989. He then with a business partner purchased Bare Escentuals out of bankruptcy and grew that into a larger chain with a huge presence on QVC before selling it.

Barrie wrote a book entitled, Nice Guys Finish First: How to succeed in Business and Life sharing his knowledge and experiences and spoke to groups on a regular basis about the same. He had previously taught a college course about the music industry for several years at UNC in the 1980’s and returned to guest lecturing at UCSB to discuss the philosophies in his book.

More than anything other than his friends and family, Barrie loved to mentor people of all ages and he loved to play and watch tennis every chance he got.
