Dear Friends,
As 2020 draws to a close, I am grateful for the tremendous engagement and support from you, our donors. Adversity in the face of a catastrophic health crisis was met with your generosity, care and kindness. Thank you on behalf of the entire USTA Foundation (USTAF).
Because of you, 160,000 children in need were able to be energized through our 250 NJTL chapters nationwide by on-court and virtual tennis and education programs. Please take a look and click-through the attached year-end newsletter to get the full picture of the USTAF’s impact and the excellent work we have achieved together for so many children in this challenging year. Tennis and education are a powerful combination.
2020 also marks the end of my second and final term as President of the USTA Foundation. I reflect on the many successes achieved by USTAF over the past eight years, including the repositioning of our mission and priorities to serve under-resourced youth, primarily through the National Junior Tennis & Learning network. The Carol Kimmelman Athletic & Academic Campus in Carson, Calif., will also stand out as a seminal achievement enabling tens of thousands of children in need to have a place to learn, share and belong.
It has been an honor to serve as the USTAF President and to be part of a team of passionate volunteers. Thank you to Dan Faber and the entire USTAF staff for their energy and commitment, the USTA for their support and collaboration, and the entire NJTL network for delivering our programs at the grass-roots level.
A heartfelt thank you goes out to Chris Evert, our Board Chair, and the entire USTAF Board of Directors. Your $1 million pledge helped inspire others to give, making our 2020 Rally to Rebuild campaign a $7 million success.
Thank you to everyone for this opportunity to serve.
Happy Holidays,
Tom Chen
