Westport, Conn.

As a child, my family always encouraged me to play sports and be active. I was inspired watching my great uncle play basketball in a wheelchair. I played basketball in high school, and later in life, I took on weightlifting and softball recreationally. I loved sports and loved getting out to play whenever I had the opportunity. After having my second child, I took up running and developed a true love for the sport. Over the past couple of years, I have completed two marathons and seven half marathons. As my children become more active, my husband and I encourage them to get involved in sports. At a very young age, they took an interest in tennis. As I watched them take lessons and play the game, I realized that it is an amazing sport. Just like running, tennis is a lifelong sport that you can learn to play at any age and continue into your elder years. I take lessons myself now and look forward to enjoying the sport with my family.

When I heard about the USTA Foundation’s partnership with the NYC Marathon, I knew it was the charity I wanted to run for. I am honored to run for the USTA Foundation and being able to combine two of my passions in life while setting an example for my children that being active at any age is extremely rewarding.

I greatly appreciate any support you can give me by sponsoring my run on behalf of the work of the USTA Foundation. Your support helps youth succeed in school, on the courts and in life!
