Please support our "Former Players' Excellence Team"

2019ExCup

Hello fellow tennis players,

I'm reaching out to former junior, collegiate, and professional players and coaches, who understand the value in competitive tennis, to raise funds to create a team of players in the Excellence Program. It's an extraordinary initiative, and I hope you'll join me.

The Excellence Program, managed by the USTA Foundation and USTA Player Development, bridges the gap for youth from historically underserved communities. It helps fund the required educational, travel, tennis training, and tournament expenses to foster their opportunity to succeed on and off the court.

Participants are National Junior Tennis & Learning (NJTL) network youth chosen based on their elite tennis ability, high GPA, and commitment to the pathway to becoming student-athletes at the collegiate and professional levels.

My goal for this holiday season is to have former players raise $30,000 to fund an Excellence Team. All of us, as players, coaches, and parents, know the benefits we have received from playing competitive sports. It is our turn to give back and ensure this generation of kids benefits from the same life experiences we did as scholar-athletes.

I have started our fund with a $1,500 donation. If all of us donate $50-$100, we can fund an Excellence Team! How easy is that?! As a donor in our group, I will keep you updated on our funds raised and the team of players we are supporting in their pathway to college and professional tennis.

Please join me in sponsoring an Excellence Team and paving the pathway to college tennis for a deserving group of players.

Sincerely,

Marianne Werdel
